Fregate Island Tour Guide
Fregate Island
Fregate, an island unique for its flora, fauna, and solitude, provides an ideal environment
for becoming one with nature.
Fregate is a 15-minute flight from Mahe. The turboprop aircraft lands on a grassy airstrip and disembarks its passengers who usually visit the island just for the day to see the magpie robins, which are found nowhere else. If you prefer to stay overnight or longer, the quaint little four room PLANTATION HOUSE is a most tranquil place to call home for the duration of ones stay.
The island is well worth an extended stay. It is privately owned and access is restricted to a maximum of eighty visitors at any one time. The island is small, only about 700 acres, and mostly mountainous with dense jungle. Years of isolation from the rest of the islands and indeed the world, has maintained the island in a virginal and pristine state. The island is a hiker and beachlovers paradise. There are numerous paths that crisscross the island, but the one to follow is the path to Victorin, the most beautiful beach in the world.
