Muscat is the capital of Oman , the hub of its political, economic and commercial affairs. Muscat is also the Sultan Qaboos bin Said, and his magnificient palace, flanked by the majestic forts of Jalali and Mirani are outstanding landmarks of the past. Salalah the birthplace of the Sultan, is the capital of the southern region of Oman, a tropical city green and peaceful, surrounded by coconut groves and banana plantations. Sandy beaches run along its length and it is linked to Muscat by modren roads.Sur, a sea-faring town, a fishing village and a trading port bustles with activity throughout the year. A century ago, the coastal city of Sohar was Omans largest city and an important Islamic port. It is still renowned for its large souq. Approximatly 175kms away from Muscat , Nizwa is renowned for its gold and silver handicrafts and its eight Kilometer long palm oasis. Buraimi, the oasis city is famous for its spices and palm products.Musandam and Khasab are scenic spots, well known for their unspoiled beauty and timeless past.
