Brief history of Nepal
History of modern Nepal is said to have begun in 1768 A.D. (1825 B.S.) with Gorkha rulers their successful unification of petty states, the year when Prithvi Narayan Shah, the great King of Nepal, conquered the kingdom of Kathmandu and transferred his capital from Gorkha to Kathmandu. This important even was ended a milestone in this history of modern Nepal. Various small states were merged into a nation. A different ruling dynasty took over the power. The Shah dynasty began to rule and Malla dynasty rule came to an end.
