Waterberg Plateau
The Waterberg Plateau
is an enormous rock plateau in the middle of the country, north of Windhoek. It was declared a game park in 1972. The wilderness area is about 18.000 ha and it rises 200 m above the surrounding plains.
In the park you can find a variety of game: black and white rhino, buffalo, giraffe, elephants, antelope, lions, leopard and a lot of other game.
Led by an armed ranger you can look for game in the open fields. It’s also possible to do a self-guided hiking trail. There are overnight facilities in the park. You must be alert because they’re potentially dangerous animals such as rhino and buffalo
