The Church “St. Todor” was built in XVI century and the Church “Sveto Vavedenie Bogorodichno” was built in 1823.
The Church “St. Todor” is the oldest church in Panagyurishte. According researchers, the church was built in the middle of XVI century. It is a small single ship church, which nowadays is joint with “Sveto Vavedenie Bogorodichno”. It was burnt down during the Kurdjali Rioting and was restored in 1808-1809 ?. by the bishop of Plovdiv – Dionisii Agatonikiiski.
The Church “Sveto Vavedenie Bogorodichno” was started in 1818 was built in 1823, right next to the south wall of “St. Todor” church. It represents single ship church with colonnade and it is larger than the old church. It was inaugurated also by Dionisii Agatonikiiski. Master builders were from Bratsigovo. The church was ornate with icons, painted by Samokov’s painters. Unfortunately the church was damaged by the fire during the uprising and its’ interior was almost devoured.
The Cathedral Church “St. George” was built in 1860, but it was commenced in 1856. The church represents imposing revival building with colonnade on its’ western facade. It was also ornate with icons and frescoes, but they were destroyed during the uprising fire. The church is considered as the town’s cathedral temple and used to be one of the largest and most impressive temples in Bulgaria
