Brunei Restaurants
Yes. Brunei has a good range of Asian food outlets serving Bruniean, Malaysian, Singaporean, Thai, Indian, Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean and Japanese fare. Italian food is well catered for and you can even go to a “genuine” fish and chip shop should the mood take you. The Empire and the Sheraton hotels have excellent international restaurants and the Friday night Seafood Buffet at the Pantai restaurant in the Empire is not to be missed!
The majority of restaurants are either Malay or Chinese style and there are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants serving these two cuisines for lunch and dinner. Dim Sum is also served at several places.
And if you are a desert fan then you are also well catered for.
Many restaurants have an unofficial BYO policy. Just leave your cooler discretely with the waiter and it will be served to you in a variety of containers (depending on where you go). My favourite so far was bubbly served up in a chinese teapot and traditional tea cups!
There are also a number of open “markets” where you can get good hawker fare al-fresco.
Finally if it’s just a coffee you’re after and perhaps a naughty slice of cake, you can’t go to far wrong at one of the Coffee Bean outlets.
